Three times three cheers!
Hurray for science-based medicine!
Hurray for surgery!
Hurray most especially for dose-controlled industrially-produced artificial painkillers, which make life so much easier than it would be if we only had access to their unreliable and side-effect-rich natural brethren!
(Three times Hurray - Paracetamol! Ibuprofen! Codeine!)
Hurray for people working to improve the lives of those around them!
Hurray for free-at-point-of-delivery medicine, denied to no-one!
Hurray for the NHS!
(I spent much of yesterday in a hospital, and am now back home with everything pushed back into place, a couple of stitches to come out in a week or so, and lots and lots of lovely pills to munch while I recover. Currently, of course, I'm less mobile than I was while still waiting for the hernia repair, but that will change over the next couple of weeks, and soon I shall be walking normally again....)
