I saw an aged, aged spam

For some reason, one of my domains has recently received a modest wave of spam emails claiming to have been sent in 1976 (although elsewhere in the headers, they all give the date as October 3609; they're obviously all from the same source). Does anyone know of a reason why, or is it just that one particular spammer is being more than usually incompetent?

I've noticed that too, in one of the email addresses I keep for feeding to websites who pointlessly demand them: the bulk/spam folders contain a sprinkling of spam apparently sent years ago, though I don't think any of mine have gone further back than the '80s or '90s.
