Spring is here!

I decided this about a fortnight ago, actually, and it's been amazing to watch everything gently growing in the meantime. Today's excitement was noticing some Iris reticulata cultivars and the earliest dwarf Narcissi in full flower (will try to get round to posting pictures RSN). How I managed to miss noticing the buds I'm not sure. Anyway, Blue! and Yellow! This is a good thing, because the crocuses are beginning to look a bit ratty, especially the ones in south-facing spots. A few shrubs have actual, real leaves rather than just fat buds (notably the mock-orange and the dogwood that wasn't pruned to the ground), and everything else has buds that look plumper and brighter by the day.
On a related subject, there've been a pair of blackbirds chasing each other all round next door's garden, so maybe there'll be chicks in a little while.
