Um. Oh dear. The Australian government has now apparently gone from rather loopy to totally dingbat insane. The ACMA's list of blacklisted sites, which the Aussie commonwealth government is talking about making compulsory[1], has already been criticised for claiming to consist entirely of illegal paedophile pornography while actually containing plenty of legal sites that have nothing to do with either children or porn. In a not unsurprising next step, the ACMA would appear to have added wikileaks to the list of forbidden pages, in order to, um, protect the children. Naturally, the ACMA insists that the published list isn't quite the same as theirs, but that they can't say what the differences are or allow anyone to look at the official censorship list because, well, think of the children.

[1] actually, I'm slightly unclear on this - many of the sites talking about the problem suggest that the list is already compulsory, with huge fines for Australians who provide links to sites on the list.
